Plenty to get to on this episode of the podcast:

Albertans went to the polls in three ridings Monday in a trio of interesting and potentially significant byelections. We’ll break down the results and what it means for the UCP, the NDP, and Alberta’s burgeoning separatist movement.

We’ll hear from Independent Alberta Senator Paula Simons. We’ll discuss the new approach from PM Mark Carney and the deluge of bills that have landed before the Senate. We’ll also focus on another bill that has now passed both the House and the Senate: Bill 202, first introduced by the Bloc Quebecois, legally shields supply management from any future trade talks or trade agreements. Senator Simons has some serious concerns about the potential impact of this bill.

Plus, a conversation with Michelle Rempel Garner, Conservative MP for Calgary-Nose Hill and once again the Opposition Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Immigration. We’ll take a closer look at the hugely important issue of immigration, and whether we can trust the liberal government to fix the mess that they created in immigration over the last decade. Have we really seen a policy shift, and what are the steps that could bring some sanity and balance back to this issue? We’ll also get Michelle’s thoughts on the post-election mood in Alberta, and why there’s such a sense of frustration and discontent (and how Ottawa could help address that).
